Dove - History Lesson
A high-school classroom. Real parents in real seats, about to discover what their daughters are searching for online, and how deeply the internet shapes their self-esteem.
Dove – A History Lesson was a powerful collaboration with Beyond Blue. Over several months, I worked alongside them to design an honest, research-driven presentation that would pull no punches, revealing confronting truths while treating every parent and story with empathy.
We cast genuine parents from one school community to ensure shared bonds and unguarded conversation. No scripts, no performances, just raw reactions as they learned that questions like “Why am I so ugly?” or “Will boys like me if I’m skinny?” are heartbreakingly common among teenage girls.
Shot with a naturalistic, observational style, the film captured both shock and compassion, as parents resolved to become allies in their daughters’ fight for healthy self-esteem.
The campaign was awarded at D&AD and reached millions of viewers worldwide, igniting crucial conversations between parents and children about body image and the hidden pressures of growing up online.
